When a man (or woman) chooses to propose to his partner, it's the mark of a whole new beginning for the couple.
It certainly is a new beginning for Joe Graham and his now-fiancee Tonya, for many happy reasons!
Doctors thought Joe would never be able to use his arms and legs, and would need to use a ventilator after a diving accident.
The same day, Tonya discovered that she was pregnant with their child. It looked like there were tough times ahead for the couple, with many hurdles to overcome.
Fortunately, little by little, Joe proved his doctors wrong with a team of physical therapists. He's been getting more use out of his legs and arms, and the good news of the pregnancy was enough to give him the motivation to keep on working hard.
He decided to plan a special surprise: he would work so hard that he would attempt to properly propose to Tonya on a bended knee!
Footage of the proposal catches the moment that Joe, with the help of his therapists and without a ventilator, bends one knee to ask his girlfriend to marry him. Tonya can't refuse, and the happy couple is just one step closer to becoming a family!
