Princess Beatrice Is Hoping To Have A Big Wedding Next Year To Lift Up Britain’s Spirits In 2021

With the state of the world what it is right now, one would not be faulted for not ranking having a giant royal wedding at the top of their "Things That Would Be Great Right Now" list. However, it seems that Princess Beatrice, bless her heart, is hoping that having a big wedding in 2021 will lift the morale of her battered nation.

To review: Princess Beatrice and her fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, have had to delay their wedding and wedding-related events quite a few times since they officially became engaged in September 2019. Between her father's entanglement in unsavory matters and the worldwide global health crisis, there have been a lot of good reasons to postpone the entire thing.

It also seemed that Beatrice and Edoardo had warmed to the idea of a smaller ceremony, along with a reception on the grounds of Buckingham Palace. But now, there are whispers that the royal pair are hoping their wedding can be the kind of reinvigorating event that Britain needs.

So far, we've all believed that Princess Beatrice and Edoardo will get married in May of this year at St James's Palace in London. But now it sounds that those plans might be put on pause as the royal family evaluates moving the wedding to next year. We can assume one reason they would want to move the wedding is for safety reasons. It would be really hard to have a wedding right now.

Now it seems that the family may be planning a larger, more public celebration after all. A family insider says, "As the granddaughter of the Queen, it seems unfair that Bea would have had to hide her nuptials from the public when her younger sister Eugenie did not have to. Eugenie’s wedding was televised and watched by three million viewers in the UK alone."

The insider also says that both Beatrice and Eugenie have been working more since Harry and Meghan left the UK. "Beatrice and Eugenie’s profiles and workload will increase after the departure of Harry and Meghan. Beatrice wants to show the public that she will never shirk her civic duties."

It also seems that Prince Andrew's ongoing legal woes are weighing heavily on his daughter's mind. "She wants the public to see her as an individual, and not to be judged for the mistakes of her father. By next year, it would be wonderful if she could hold her head up high as she walks down the aisle in front of hundreds of people."

This is actually all fair enough. If Beatrice and Eugenie are expected to step into somewhat more prominent roles, then people will naturally become more interested in them. And you can certainly understand Beatrice's desire to distance herself from her father and his goings-on.

In March, the palace announced that the May wedding would be delayed. The official statement said, "Beatrice and Mr. Mapelli Mozzi are very much looking forward to getting married but are equally aware of the need to avoid undertaking any unnecessary risks in the current circumstances."

It continued, "In line with government advice for the U.K. and beyond, the couple are reviewing their arrangements. They are particularly conscious of government advice in relation to both the well-being of older family members and large gatherings of people. Therefore, the planned reception in the Buckingham Palace Gardens will not take place."

The palace also noted that the couple was considering having a small wedding with only a few family members and friends, but now that plan may be shifting. "The couple will carefully consider government advice before deciding whether a private marriage might take place amongst a small group of family and friends."
