Queen Elizabeth Just Used Instagram For The First Time Ever At 92 Years Old

Big moment for Queen Elizabeth on Thursday! The Queen posted her very first Instagram photo, and she did a wonderful job.

Queen Elizabeth is incredibly cool in a number of ways (not to mention adorable). Until now, she's never made the foray into the world of Instagram. And at 92 years old, fans have not exactly held their breath for the Queen to become a pro at the 'gram anytime soon.

But the Queen has never let her age slow her down. She's proof that you're never too old to learn new tricks — even on social media!

She took to the @theroyalfamily Instagram account yesterday to post a photo of a letter to her great-great-grandfather. The letter, which had been in the Royal Archives, was on display at the Science Museum. She wrote a lengthy personal caption to accompany the photo. The Queen even signed her name — "Elizabeth R." — to sign off the post.

Fingers crossed that this is the first of many Queen Instagrams to come!

Queen Elizabeth is 92 years old, but she remains an active monarch and has no plans to give up the throne anytime soon. She is now the longest-serving monarch in British history.

Over the years, the Queen has become beloved for her charm and relatability. Perfect example: She starred in a sketch with James Bond star Daniel Craig at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.

She's an avid and vocal fan of horse racing, and, of course, she loves to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

What the Queen is not really known for, though? Her social media savviness.

Photos of the Queen appear on the royal family's official Instagram accounts on a regular basis, along with the rest of her family. The royals run a few accounts, including @theroyalfamily and @kensingtonpalace.

The accounts are quite active. The family members don't have their own individual Instagram accounts, but they do contribute to the official pages sometimes.

Like that time Prince Harry posted a photo that he took of pregnant Meghan Markle with his very own iPhone! So cute.

Yesterday, Queen Elizabeth published her very own Instagram post on @theroyalfamily, for the FIRST TIME EVER.

I mean!!! What a moment! Here she is, publishing the post.

The post is a photo of a vintage letter from the Royal Archives that the Queen discovered while visiting the Science Museum, which evidently inspired the Queen to try her hand at Instagram.

The Queen explains everything in the caption.

"Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert," she wrote.

The letter discusses an early prototype of a predecessor to the modern computer.

"Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the 'Difference Engine,' of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843," the Queen wrote.

"In the letter, Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert about his invention the 'Analytical Engine' upon which the first computer programmes were created by Ada Lovelace, a daughter of Lord Byron."

"Today, I had the pleasure of learning about children’s computer coding initiatives and it seems fitting to me that I publish this Instagram post, at the Science Museum which has long championed technology, innovation and inspired the next generation of inventors," she concluded, signing her name "Elizabeth R."

Royal fans were delighted that the Queen has ventured into the world of social media.

"Who else read this in the Queen's voice?" one commenter joked.

Who knows? Maybe we'll be treated to regular posts from the Queen from now on. Do it for the 'gram, Your Royal Highness!
