If you've ever played a sport before, then you know the community can be very close-knit.
Members of your team are more than that, they become your family. Spending hours working toward the same goal with others really helps build a sense of togetherness that nothing can bend.
When it comes to sports, there is also a sense of rivalry. You don't often see teams making friends with their enemies!
Yet, when we see others in need, the fact that they are our rivals becomes a very trivial fact. At the Schwan's USA Cup, the soccer community came together in the best way.
A Minnesota girls team played girls from Haiti, but the children and adults realized all of the girls were wearing shoes that didn't fit them properly. Not wanting to ever see others in need, they quickly came together.
The community worked hard and managed to donate 130 pairs of cleats to the team from Haiti! They were able to work with the Tony Sanneh Foundation in order to make this a possibility!
If you enjoyed this, you will probably love the story of a young homeless man who found inspiration in soccer. After hearing about a league in his area, he was moved to start playing, and now, he's turned his life around and also coaches a youth league!
Don't forget to SHARE this generous community with all of your friends and family!
