Kansas Woman Gives Birth To ‘Mini Sumo Wrestler’ Baby

The average weight of a newborn carried to term is about seven and a half pounds. Although this isn't a significant number to the average person, every mom knows that giving birth is a painful process no matter how small or large the baby is.

So can you imagine giving birth to a child twice that weight? One mom in Kansas, and her nurses, got the shock of their lives when little Moses came into the world. He quickly earned a nickname: "sumo wrestler."

Gina Hilton gave birth via C-section. A nurse looked down at her newborn, and exclaimed, "It's a mini sumo wrestler!" But when Gina took a peek for herself, she knew exactly what she was talking about. Moses weighed in at about 14.4 pounds, and measured 22 inches.

Gina has two other children; both were born weighing about nine pounds each, but Moses clearly outclasses them both! He is not the heaviest baby on record, but he is certainly one of the largest this hospital has seen.

He showed signs of jaundice and blood sugar issues, but he is being monitored. He is expected to be home soon with his proud parents and two older sisters.

The kicker? He was even born 11 days earlier than expected!
