‘Teen Mom’ Star Slams Kylie Jenner For Glamorizing Teen Pregnancy In Most Ironic Statement Ever

Sometimes it takes a moment to realize that your criticisms of others say more about you than they say about them. Kailyn Lowry is having that moment, and the internet isn't holding back from letting her know as much.

Kailyn recently appeared on The Hills stars Heidi and Spencer Pratt's podcast, Make Speidi Famous Again. During her appearance, Kailyn decided to share her two cents on Kylie Jenner as a young mom. Of course, both ladies are public figures and are therefore open to the scrutiny of the masses on their parenting. Kailyn asserted that there's a difference between documenting her experiences on 16 and Pregnant and subsequently Teen Mom and watching glimpses of Kylie as a young mother on her social media accounts. Kailyn believes that Kylie glamorizes the young mom experience, while Teen Mom shows a more realistic side.

People were quick to call Kailyn out on her hypocritical comments.

If you're not an MTV reality fan, let's get you up to speed. Kailyn Lowry made her debut at 17 years old on season two of 16 and Pregnant. She then landed a spot on Teen Mom 2.

Kailyn, now 26, has three sons: Isaac, 8; Lincoln, 4; and Lux, 1.

Kailyn appeared on fellow MTV reality stars Heidi and Spencer Pratt's podcast Make Speidi Famous Again.

During their chat, a parenting discussion led to the mention of Kylie Jenner. The 21-year-old reality star gave birth to her first child, Stormi Webster, in February.

Kailyn had a lot to say about Kylie as a mom. She opened by saying she doesn't "want to hate her." She then went on to explain that she felt Kylie glamorizes the young mom experience.

"When you’re that young and you have that much money and you’re able to kind of have a nanny and have a lot of help and you still do all these things. I think that shows that it’s kind of glamorous to have a kid so young," Kailyn explained.

Kailyn said that since Kylie can "can still go out and party and do all these things," it makes young motherhood look "slightly glamorous."

While she pointed out that she and Kylie had different circumstances, she asserted that the shows she has participated in are more realistic. “I mean, she wasn’t a teenager so obviously it’s slightly different, but we got a lot of backlash for Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant that makes it look like the show is glamorous, and I just don’t agree because it took me seven years to get a four-year degree. I didn’t always have the money I have now.”

Kailyn tried to say that her intention wasn't to bash Kylie in any way. She said, "She didn’t ask to be a role model. It’s so hard 'cause obviously I don’t want to mom-shame her at all."

As Kailyn's comments were said, the internet took notice. Let's just say they weren't particularly interested in Kailyn's take.

In fact, many thought Kailyn was being a straight-up hypocrite. While she didn't start out as well off as Kylie, Kailyn agreed to be on a reality show, getting paid to show the struggles of young motherhood.

Fans pointed out that Kylie's decision to pursue young motherhood was probably, in part, because she could financially handle it. Kylie was 20 when she gave birth, unlike Kailyn, who was a teen at the time of her first pregnancy.

Many asserted that it's MTV that continues to glamorize teen pregnancy by coming up with shows putting the spotlight on young mothers. In fact, there were many stories claiming girls were looking to get pregnant to land a spot on 16 and Pregnant after its first season aired.

Sure, Kylie is having a different experience than most young mothers, but she's also having a different experience than most parents in general with the level of fame and wealth she has. Kailyn is no longer having a typical experience either, whether or not she feels that way.

While we hope there isn't any bad blood between the moms as the result of the exchange, it does make Kailyn look just a tad out of touch. Plenty of parents still go out and party when they can find someone to watch their kids. Plenty of people without kids take longer than the recommended time to obtain degrees. What makes each woman's experience really different is what the two have in common. Being in the spotlight as a parent and choosing to include your child[ren] in that spotlight makes the game completely different, no matter who you are. While it's not for everyone, we do appreciate the glimpses we get at both moms' kids as they grow up.
