Before Johnny Depp met and married Amber Heard, he was in a long-term relationship with French model and singer Vanessa Paradis. The two, who were together for 14 years, have two children together.
While these days it seems that Depp is focused on portraying his split from Paradis as positively as possible, back in 2012 a different story was being circulated.
Hello! Magazine reported that Johnny Depp had to fork over a lot of money when he ended his relationship with Vanessa Paradis. At the time, his net worth was estimated to be $200 million, and he reportedly reached a $100 million settlement with his ex.
The wild amount of money was also in part for the pair's children, who were 13 and 9 years old at the time of the breakup. However, other outlets later wrote that there was more to the amount than meets the eye.

In 2022, it was revealed that Depp had spoken quite negatively about his former partner to none other than singer Elton John. Amber Heard's legal team alleged that in 2013, Depp sent John an email that in part included derogatory language describing Paradis.
Depp reportedly wrote, "On the other side of the coin… my kids have fallen head over heels in deep love with Amber (my girl) and that pressure off my shoulders is [expletive] gone!!! That is unlike the 'French extortionist (ex [expletive]) attempts to brain wash them against her… which, I'm sure is imminent."
Heard and Depp met in 2011 on the set of a movie they both starred in, and Paradis and Depp ended their relationship the following year. It's possible this had something to do with that reported settlement amount, though it's never been confirmed.
