Homeowners Share The Most Unusual Things They Have Found While Renovating Their Property

Can you imagine living on a piece of history? Several homeowners have realized, by accident, that their homes contain hidden historical secrets. And while many people might be a bit terrified to realize their house might have been key in shaping the future today, Inside Edition found plenty of couples who are fascinated with their discoveries.

One of those people is Maya Moody, who helped showcase her cousin's home on TikTok. Maya's cousin, Stephen Agyeman, lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. On a TikTok video, Maya thought it'd be fun to tour the secret room they discovered, and she managed to get a ton of new followers.

Maya and Stephen uncovered underground tunnels that they believe could have been part of the Underground Railroad. It hasn't been officially confirmed, but based on what is known of the structure, it's definitely possible.

Maya isn't the only one fascinated by underground discoveries. A couple in Illinois named Gary and Beth Machens also found a tunnel in their house somewhat recently.

It all happened when they tried to repair a piece of sidewalk outside the home. One thing led to another, and the couple realized they had a lot more space in their home than they initially thought. And it's not just any ordinary tunnel — it's 9 feet high and approximately 60 feet long.

Other homes have hidden secrets of other varieties. For example, one couple who had learned that their home originally housed a bootlegger found old bottles of alcohol when tearing down parts of their home.
