Although the hazelnut chocolate spread has been around since 1964, it seems like Nutella is all the rage these days. People go crazy for this yummy treat and they can't seem to get enough of it.
So, imagine my delight when I found the below video on YouTube by the One Pot Chef. In it, he not only promises to use Nutella prodigiously, but he also says that he's going to turn it into a cake that you can eat straight out of a mug in five minutes! That's crazy!
But then I watched the whole video and realized that it's not crazy at all — it's brilliant! If you find yourself having a hankering for a five-minute Nutella mug cake, then this video will guide you through all the steps you need to make it. It's super easy, only calls for about seven ingredients, and takes less time than it would take you to actually go to the supermarket and buy the Nutella.
All you have to do is take a rather large mug and add all your ingredients: self-raising flour, white sugar, an egg, unsweetened cocoa powder, Nutella, milk, and vegetable oil (or melted butter). For exact amounts of each, One Pot Chef has all the details in the video description.
Next, take a fork and give the ingredients a good mixing, right there in the mug, until they form an ooey, gooey consistency. Then you just have to pop it in the microwave for around two minutes (depending on how powerful your microwave is) until you see the cake rise to the top. Take it out, let it cool a bit, and dig in!
You've got yourself a delicious Nutella Mug Cake that you can share with a friend… Oh, who am I kidding! Eat it all up yourself! That's what I'm planning on doing!
