5 Years After The Fort Hood Attack, Victims Are FINALLY Getting The Honor They Deserve

The victims of the deadly 2009 terrorist attack on Fort Hood have finally gotten the due honors they have always deserved.

It's been five years since Nidal Malik Hassan opened fire on innocent members of the military base, killing 13 innocent victims and injuring 32. But, even though the honorable dead were shot down on that day by a terrorist, while on duty, they were not awarded posthumous Purple Heart medals. Their deaths were considered "workplace injuries."

Soldiers who receive the Purple Heart have to be injured in combat against an enemy of our nation. But for whatever reason, the Pentagon deemed the victims, alive and dead, unworthy of the honor, stating that giving them the Purple Heart could "irrevocably alter the fundamental character of this time-honored decoration."

However, after a long legal battle, with Presidential candidate Ted Cruz helping out, it seems like the victims might get an honorable reward.

Hasan is currently awaiting his execution after being tried and convicted of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder.

Do you think the Pentagon was correct in considering these "workplace injuries?" Do you think these brave victims deserve awards for sacrificing their bodies and lives in the fight against terrorism?
