One stray dog in Tripoli, Lebanon, is proving yet again that their species is man’s best friend. The pooch was found with a black trash bag containing an abandoned baby girl in his mouth. When a person heard cries coming from the bag, they decided to help this good boy out.
The trash bag was left outside a municipal building on Wednesday July 19, 2023. The baby girl was first taken to the Islamic Hospital but eventually transferred to the Tripoli Government Hospital. Photos show she had bruises and scrapes from the ordeal.
It is not known at this time how old she is. There are conflicting reports on the matter. Some outlets say she was just born and others claim she was around 4 months old.
Social media has had a field day with this story. Many have offered to adopt this precious baby girl. Others have weighed in on the dog’s intentions.

Some social media users believe the dog was trying to hurt the baby or was too dirty to be near her. One user came to the dog’s defense. “Some say that the dog is an unclean animal and, of course, this is not true,” one Twitter user stated. “The dog has much more humanity, kindness, cunning, and intelligence than some satanic mutants in human form.”
Another Twitter user wholeheartedly agreed stating “animals have more compassion than humans.”
Journalist Ghassan Rifi believes that we should be focusing our blame on the baby’s mother instead of the dog. “It was not known whether the ‘wild lady’ who threw the child and fled to an unknown destination had intended to throw her in the area so that the dogs would finish her off and eat her corpse or to draw attention to her,” she began her reporting.
Regardless of the mother’s intentions, this animal showed more compassion and empathy than its human counterpart. “But in all cases, the dog that dragged her was more humane in the face of the brutality and criminality of the one who threw her,” she concluded.
Thankfully the baby girl is stable. She is not completely out of the woods yet as she is listed in serious condition. The world is rallying behind her and sending their thoughts for a speedy recovery.
This incident is still under investigation. Authorities are working to find out who abandoned the infant. Wednesday was the beginning of the Islamic New Year, so here’s hoping this tiny human also gets a fresh start.
