I never judge any parent's choices.
Whether it's a parent who looks fed up at their toddler throwing a tantrum at the supermarket or one who is regularly absent from their daughter's little league practice — you never know a family's history, background, or context.
Unless someone is clearly harming their kids, my policy is that it's nobody's business.
Nevertheless, I admit that when I heard Angelica Kenova's story, a woman whose parents raised her as a human Barbie Doll, I couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.
While Angelica and her family revere Barbie, other moms are giving the doll make-unders to send girls a more positive message.
Angelica's story is nothing short of parents who fancy themselves as modern Pygmalions.
From the time Angelica was a little girl and even now as an adult, she has been referred to a "princess" by her mother and father. They don't allow her to make any choices about her life. Everything from her appearance to who she dates is strictly dictated by her parents.
At 26 years old, she is afraid to move out of her mom in fear that it will cause a family "scandal."

This is Angelica Kenova. The 26-year-old Russian beauty was raised by her parents as a "living doll."
"Growing up, my parents raised me like a princess and never let me go out, date boys or have the usual adult experiences. As a result, I am not fit for real life - I'm like a living doll," Angelica told Daily Mail.
"Since I was a child, my parents styled me as a Barbie so I'm glad that I'm equated to one — Barbie is the idol of girls around the world."
"I did not choose this image of a doll myself, my parents did. When I turned 6, my mum started buying me collectible Barbie dolls and enthusiastically dressing me up like one."
However, Angelica isn't quite as wholesome as Barbie. Her parents encourage her to take more salacious photographs as a model.
With a 20-inch waist and a large 32E bust, Angelica has manipulated her proportions in Barbie's likeness.
"When I became a teenager, my parents hired a personal trainer who created an individual training program for me. He has designed exercises which will help me tone my buttocks and hone my narrow waist."
"I have never had plastic surgery. Cosmetic work is only necessary when an individual has serious faults with their face or body," she says.
"My mother and father don't want me to move out of the family home. I'm not even allowed to buy clothes without my mum there - she likes to choose attire that clings to my figure and emphasize my good features."
"My mother also demands that she accompanies on any dates. I have to book a table for three people so she can sit at the same table whilst my date and I have dinner. 'So I've never had a proper boyfriend. All the boys I know are just friends unfortunately
"I really love my family and I don't want to upset them. If I ever decided to live apart or do something against their will, it would be a scandal."
Angelica is hopeful to leave the nest one day. "My parents have kept me in a glass palace all my life but one day hopefully, I will be able to break free. It is never too late to start an independent life," she said.
