When you’re a parent and your child is at the age when they’re going to school every day, there are going to be times when you really can’t be sure what’s happening when they’re in class and with their peers and teachers. All you can try to do is open a line of communication that allows your child to feel safe to come to you should anything unsafe or dishonest occur.
Anthony wasn’t sure what to think when his son Mike started to come home from school ravenously hungry most days. Anthony and his wife made sure to pack their son a full lunchbox filled with a generous meal and lots of snacks, but when he came home from school each day, it seemed like he hadn’t eaten a thing.

After a week or two of this behavior and not getting anywhere with Mike whenever he asked him about his school lunches, Anthony decided to go to his son’s school and ask the administration if they knew what was going on. When they had no answers for him, Anthony asked some of Mike’s classmates, who told him that his son routinely didn’t even bring a lunch from home.
Just when Anthony was about to leave his son’s school, one of Mike’s teachers came up to him. He told him that there was a new substitute teacher on campus named Clive and he had witnessed a few occasions when he had acted very strangely around his son.
