Washington Boy, 12, Rescued After Falling Down A Well While At Catholic Church School

A 12-year-old boy was thankfully rescued after falling down a well during recess. The incident took place in Washington. The well is located alongside a pumphouse behind St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Though he did get a few bruises and cuts, he is expected to be OK.

Authorities say that the boy was standing on the lid of the well when it partially collapsed, causing him to fall in. When first responders arrived, he was partially submerged in water and holding onto a plastic pipe about 20 feet under ground.

The boy couldn't touch the bottom and sustained numerous lacerations to his head as a result of the fall. He was able to follow commands, and put on a harness and helmet that firefighters lowered down to him. They then removed what was left of the concrete lid and lowered a ladder down so the boy to climb out on his own.
