It was a very uplifting day at Utah’s Primary Children’s Hospital when little JP Gibson got to ring a bell three times to symbolize the end of his cancer treatment.
“No more, no more chemotherapy,” the doctors, nurses, and his family sang to the beat of Queen's “We Will Rock You.”
Gibson, who once had the chance to play basketball with the NBA’s Utah Jazz, had been diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Feb. 24, 2012, when he was just 2 years old. Like Devon Still’s adorable daughter, who is now in remission after a public battle with cancer, Gibson also received incredible news.
“It was actually three years ago today that we were sitting in the clinic and he was going through some really hard chemo, and a little boy rang the bell, and they came over and said, 'Three years from today, you’ll also be ringing that bell,' ” said his mother Megan Gibson. “And I thought, 'We’re never going to make it. This is so hard.' But here we are.”
The 5-year-old’s doctor, Dr. Richard Lemons, also seemed enthusiastic about the incredible news telling reporters, “We're delighted that he's finishing today.”
And just wait till you see the little boy’s laugh at the :49 mark — it will certainly bring a smile to your face.
