The cello has been my favorite instrument for a while now, but I've got to admit: when I think "cello" I don't usually think "Jimi Hendrix". That changed after hearing these two play. Their goal is to explore all of the different ways a cello can be played and to take the audience on an unexpected journey with the instrument. I think it's safe to say they met their objective!
Emil and Dariel have been playing cello since they were 4-years old. Their grandfather, a Russian immigrant who so proudly watched his grandsons from the side of the stage, taught them to play and is still their teacher today. I think the only thing that could have made this clip any better is if the grandfather walked on stage for a surprise solo!
