3D Bubble Nail Trend Is Sweeping Nail Salons Everywhere!

I've certainly never seen nails like this before. As someone who is sure to schedule my gel manicures every two weeks like clockwork, you see a lot lounging around a nail salon.

But I've never seen anyone make this request. Princess nails are a thing of the past. Welcome into this great big beautiful world: bubble nails.

If you're looking for something a little more simple, check out this fun summer fruit nail tutorial that you can recreate in a pinch!

These are not to be confused with water bubble nails that are filled with water. Bubble nails are sculpted acrylic nails that look like round orbs on the nail.

They're nails in 3D and like any cumbersome nail trend, they're certainly not for everyone. Although, I welcome anyone to express themselves however they feel, I don't see these quite catching on the way a certain color or decal might.

So, what do you think of the bubble nail trend? Would you ever rock these or are they not your thing? Let us know in the comments!

"Bubble nails require building and sculpting of the acrylic until you get the look your client wants to achieve. You have to know exactly where the hump is supposed to be, then slowly build the nails." Nail technician Hoa Bui told Nails magazine.

"You start with a ball of acrylic in the middle of the nail, which is the highest part of the hump," she said.

"The nail has to be thin at the cuticle, then it gradually gets thicker as it gets to the middle of the nail plate."

"Then from the middle of the nail plate it has to gradually get thinner at the tip of the nail, like a nice smooth hill. The curve has to be perfect.”

The unique trend appears to be gaining traction (with as many detractors).

Some criticize the nails for making it impossible to function: type, button up a shirt, use a cell phone, etc.

Others believe the bubble nails are just a new way to express themselves and their style. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
