Paul Healy has been a Massachusetts bus driver for 14 years. However, on one fateful day, he saw something he had never seen in his long career.
When Healy looked out of his window, he noticed a driver behaving bizarrely: an SUV was swerving across the road erratically in front of him.
He noticed that the driver was “slumping over” the wheel and losing control of the car. Healy was terrified that the car would hit someone, so he did the unthinkable.
Bus drivers are becoming known for their quick thinking; another bus driver saved a girl who fell out of a window by swiftly catching her.
Healy quickly swerved the bus narrowly in front of the car, causing it to come to a stop and blocking it from the rest of the traffic. By using the giant bus to block the small vehicle, he likely saved many lives, including the driver’s.
When the car came to a stop, he ran out of the bus and tended to the driver, then he notified the dispatcher to call an ambulance. It turns out the car driver was having a seizure and had passed out.
The woman driving the SUV says that Healy “saved her life.” I think you might agree. The incident was all captured on footage, and you’ll want to watch it again and again to make sure you caught it.
