Construction Worker Finds Ouija Board Hidden In Walls Of House

Construction workers and other contractors never know what they're going to find when hired to make repairs in a home.

Some houses are rather old, which means they've seen many families come and go. Who knows what might be hidden behind cabinets and under floorboards?

Sometimes when construction workers start poking around, they find crazy stuff — like this letter to Santa that had been hidden for over 70 years!

Reddit user Falco_Columbarius was recently hired to do some work on a customer's heating and ventilation system. But when he pried off the vent to take a look inside, he was shocked to find something very unusual (and a little bit spooky!) blocking the air flow: an Ouija board.

Scroll through below for a look at this crazy discovery.

"I found a Ouija board behind a heating vent while working in a customer's house," the construction worker wrote on Reddit.

This is a picture of what he saw after he'd removed the vent cover.

The board was upside-down and appeared to be quite weathered from years of sitting in the vent. Only the words 'Ouija' and 'Mystifying Oracle' were visible above the board's top row of letters.

How did the board get there?! And why — as one Reddit commenter pointed out — is it upside down? No one seems to know the real answer.

The Ouija board was invented by Elijah Bond, from Baltimore, who was granted the patent for his "toy or game" in 1891.

"The objects of the invention are to produce a toy or game by which two or more persons can amuse themselves by asking questions of any kind and having them answered by the device used and operated by the touch of the hand, so that the answers are designated by letters on a board," Bond wrote in his patent application.

Falco_Columbarius gave no detail on where the house was located or how old it was, but he did mention that he was now wondering "where the planchette was hidden."

The planchette is the small device that looks like a tear drop with a circular window cut out.

Redditors couldn't guess where the planchette may be hiding, but they did have some suggestions about what he should do with the game.

"Holy water in a super soaker. Watch it sizzle and wither away like the Wicked Witch in Wizard of Oz!" wrote one.
