Remember "The One With the Routine"? Well, we do! And we just got a huge, adorable reminder of it from Courteney Cox herself. She and her daughter, Coco Arquette, just performed a cute dance together that has fans remembering the epic "routine" that Ross and Monica hilariously performed on the New Year's Eve episode of Friends back in 1999. While the dance is pretty old (like 21 years old!), we remember it just like it was yesterday.
On Monday, Courteney and Coco took to TikTok to show off their moves. It didn't look exactly like "the routine," but some of the moves were similar. They danced to "Skinny Lil B Word" and were perfectly in sync with one another. It looks like the pair are just having fun and enjoying some mom-and-daughter time (while giving us a nice little throwback reminder), but Coco captioned the post, "Family workout." It seems like they were breaking a sweat while getting their dance moves on.
Either way, it couldn't BE any cuter.
In the cute video, Coco and Courteney perform for Coco's TikTok audience with tons of enthusiasm. It makes us wonder how often they dance together. They certainly look like they were well prepared to show off their moves. Fans instantly loved the video.
Fans commented how cute they looked and how sweet it was to see the mom and daughter dancing together. They tweeted it and shared it far and wide. Of course, fan accounts picked up the post. The account GellerGreen shared it on Instagram, too, so we could enjoy it on that platform, as well.
Of course, one of the main reasons that fans loved the video so much was because it's always fun to see what Courteney is up to. But they couldn't help pointing out that watching her dance reminds everyone of Monica Geller. Specifically, it reminds us of that epic "routine" episode where Ross and Monica performed on New Year's Eve.
In typical Ross and Monica fashion, the two overestimated how well-received their dance would be — they were hoping it would get them the spotlight on the NYE special. Of course, it made for a hilarious episode because watching the two perform a dance they had done as kids, believing it to still be as epic as it was for them when they were younger, is just downright funny.
Speaking of nostalgia, people are always quick to hop on any posts about Friends and toss around the hilarious one-liners. The show is simply one that has stuck around through the ages. People still binge-watch it today, and new generations get to enjoy it. "I KNOW!" Monica might say.
Unfortunately, it just got a little harder to binge Friends unless you own the box set. Netflix removed the iconic show from its streaming service as of the end of 2019. Fans were not ready for its departure. We're guessing there will be an easier way to watch soon, though. Otherwise, there might be a revolt.
Either way, we will always enjoy following our favorite Friends (and their kids!) on social media. Truthfully, with a show that iconic, anything can feel like a throwback. Take, for example, this post Courteney shared recently on her Instagram account. Does it remind anyone of the ultra-competitive Monica Geller, or is it just us?
Courteney is pretty active on social media. Usually, she posts throwbacks or pictures of her with her family. These days, she seems pretty into spending time with her big family, as well as her old "friends," whom she remains close with. Of course, we all love to see posts of the old gang hanging out.
Now that Jennifer Aniston has joined Instagram (finally!) after a lot of encouragement from Courteney, we have even more friends to follow. Jennifer made her Instagram debut back in October 2019. Courteney welcomed her good friend to the platform.
We hope Courteney and Coco share some more of their moves in 2020. Whether it's a cute new routine or a throwback to some of the Gellars' epic performances, we'll certainly be happy to see it. And honestly? It seems like Courteney loves the throwbacks just as much as we all do. When you play a character for that long, all those Monica-isms just don't go away.
We'll take all the Friends reminders we can get.
