Teacher Tells Class He Knew Wife Was The One Because He Wanted To Grocery Shop With Her For Life

As Dan West answered over 200 questions from students in his communications class on October 24, 2017, he had no idea one particular answer of his would make thousands of people smile.

Instead of giving a long romantic answer that seemed made up, he gave a simple one: it was a normal day grocery shopping.

After Tori tweeted the story, hundreds of thousands of people were touched by the simplicity of it. The tweet already has over 342,000 likes, 77,000 retweets, and almost 300 comments.

Many who commented tagged their significant other and agreed that they'd want to grocery shop forever with that person. Others were past students who praised their professor.

Today somebody asked my professor how he knew he wanted to marry his wife & he said, “I took her to the grocery store to get ice cream & while she was picking out a flavor, I realized she was who I wanted to grocery shop w for the rest of my life.”

Tori decided to share her professor's story because she knew it would make others smile.

"Nowadays, so many marriages are failing simply because people are not being as appreciated 10 years down the road as they were before they had even begun dating," she told BuzzFeed.

Dan even had some advice for younger people who are trying to get into a loving relationship like he is.

"My advice is to keep the relationship as real as possible. And to give each other some electronic space," he told BuzzFeed. "Knowing you are going to spend time together at night — even if it is studying, or doing laundry, or even 'Netflix and chill' — [it] can be far more rewarding than hundreds of useless text messages."
