YouTube Volunteer Diving Group May Have Found Remains Of Man Missing For 2 Decades

A volunteer YouTube diving group has been making some major waves in the true crime community. Now it appears Adventures With Purpose may have solved another cold case.

In a video shared on March 20, Adventures With Purpose discussed their latest dive in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania. The group believes they found both the vehicle and remains of James Amabile, a man who went missing from the area in December 2003. Amabile was last heard from by his children's babysitter when he called to say he would be running a little late to pick up his daughters.

Adventures With Purpose works beside law enforcement after discovering remains to make sure they are removed through the water and go through proper investigative channels. To the 20 families they've helped bring closure to since 2019, their work is as important as that of law enforcement.

"We are confident that we have discovered not only Mr. Amabile's vehicle, but his human remains, as well," Adventures With Purpose diver Doug Bishop revealed on YouTube.

The news came after the group of divers discovered a car submerged in Darby Creek in Ridley Township, Pennsylvania.

Adventures With Purpose contacted Ridley Township police "immediately," to let them know that the vehicle was found. They also informed police that there seemed to be human remains inside the vehicle.

"Through a joint effort together, we were able to identify and recover human remains from the vehicle," they shared.

Authorities are now waiting on the medical examiner to identify the remains. The family of James Amabile agrees with the divers in their belief that this is him.

"We believe and the family believes that we definitely closed this case for them," they shared.

"His family is very extremely grateful for everything."

Adventures With Purpose came to search the area by retracing the drive between Amabile’s home and the babysitter's. The car was about 24 feet under water, with the driver still buckled into his seat.

"At this moment we want to take a moment to express our sympathies to the entire Amabile family as they navigate this tragic outcome to a nightmare that has lasted 18 years,” the divers wrote in the YouTube video description.

"We encourage each and every one of you to take the time today to hug your loved ones a little tighter and cherish the moments you have."
