If you're anything like me, leaving home without your lip balm is just as bad as forgetting your house keys or cell phone. It's safe to say I have a minor addiction!
At any given time, I always have at least one container of Chapstick or lip gloss on me, mainly because I misplace them so often and go through them so quickly. I've spent way too much money buying new lip products and I've honestly never, ever even thought about making my own. When I saw the following video from What's Up Moms, the ladies behind hysterical parody videos like this ode to Starbucks lattes, something clicked. This is the most simple, yet useful, life hack I've come across in a long time!
Unlike this lip balm recipe, which calls for Vaseline and Kool-Aid, the following recipe calls for all-natural ingredients like beeswax and coconut oil, plus a little touch of lipstick and a couple drops of peppermint oil for that extra oomph of color and flavor. However, the best part of this easy how-to video is that we learn how to reuse and refill old lip balm containers after we're finished with them.
As one commenter pointed out, it would take less time just to buy a new lip balm from a convenience store, but I think this works best when you make them in bulk as party favors, holiday gifts, or just to keep a spare in every one of your purses.
