An anonymous woman's critical post about her future engagement ring is making the rounds on social media this week. After the woman found the ring in her boyfriend's nightstand, she posted a photo of it in a "ring-shaming" group on Facebook, where people post photos of ugly or weird rings they've come across.
"Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan," the woman wrote. "Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different."
Except the ring really, really isn't that bad. It's a perfectly normal-looking engagement ring.
Needless to say, the post had an unintended effect. Instead of roasting the ring, people began roasting the woman.

Which begs the question: Why do ring-shaming groups even exist? Seems pretty evil.
Many commenters affirmed the idea that, really, the style of the ring shouldn't be THE most important part of a proposal.
It should be more about the person behind the proposal and the love that you both share.
