People Are Stunned By Woman’s Reaction To Finding The Engagement Ring Her Boyfriend Bought

Proposing to your significant other is a big step, and it can be scary. You spend ages picking out the perfect ring, save up money to splurge on it, and wait for the perfect moment.

Imagine, then, if your girlfriend not only found the engagement ring early (thus ruining the surprise) but also hated it so much that she posted it on the internet for everyone to roast. That sure would sting.

An anonymous woman's critical post about her future engagement ring is making the rounds on social media this week. After the woman found the ring in her boyfriend's nightstand, she posted a photo of it in a "ring-shaming" group on Facebook, where people post photos of ugly or weird rings they've come across.

"Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan," the woman wrote. "Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different."

Except the ring really, really isn't that bad. It's a perfectly normal-looking engagement ring.

Needless to say, the post had an unintended effect. Instead of roasting the ring, people began roasting the woman.

When you're in a relationship and you know a proposal is coming soon, every day is like an exciting mystery. And if there's one thing many women are dying to know, it's what the ring looks like.

For some women, the type of ring isn't just a matter of curiosity. It can actually make or break the proposal experience.

One anonymous Facebook user actually discovered her boyfriend's ring in his nightstand before he even got to propose. And she did not like what she saw.

She hated it so much that she posted it to a "ring-shaming" group on Facebook, which is exactly what it sounds like — a group where people gather just to bash other's engagement rings.

In this case, she posted to shame her very own future ring.

"Ewwwww. Self shame Friday here I come. Found this in the BF’s nightstand. Not a fan," she wrote.

"Please roast and then tell me how to tactfully say no you need to go get something different."

However, she didn't get the response she was expecting.

"That's rude as hell," one commenter replied.

"Hopefully it's not for you," another wrote.

The post eventually made its way to Reddit, where commenters had a lot to say to the anonymous woman.

Many commenters thought the woman was being unnecessarily negative and mean.

Especially because the ring really isn't ugly, nor is it some cheap knockoff.

In fact, some commenters said they have rings that look just like this one!

Not liking the style of the ring is one thing, but posting it for thousands to see and mock on Facebook? Not cool.

Which begs the question: Why do ring-shaming groups even exist? Seems pretty evil.

Many commenters affirmed the idea that, really, the style of the ring shouldn't be THE most important part of a proposal.

It should be more about the person behind the proposal and the love that you both share.

Maybe after being dragged by countless Redditors and Facebook users, this anonymous lady has gained a new perspective.

Or maybe not.
