One father's egg-tastic art and storytelling skills are going viral after being posted to X (formerly known as Twitter) by his son. On March 5, 2024, Sam Eames shared a two-page spread of a journal entry created by his dad, Dave Eames.
Apparently, he consumed a bad egg and paid for it, and his journal entry details how the entire experience went. “From my dad’s journal. His experience after consuming a vile, small egg,” the caption of the tweet read. The post has garnered over 6.4 million views since.
The first page of the journal describes a "much colder" day in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, which is where Dave resides with his wife, Kelly Eames. "After a few days in the 70's, today is in the mid-30s!" he wrote.
He then goes on to document a win by the Green Bay Phoenix, a college basketball team. "The victory means G.B. is a top four team in the conference!" he wrote.

Dave's entry for the next day, dated Wednesday February 28, 2024, is the highlight of the post, detailing his experience with eating a bad egg. "Sam joined us for 'breakfast for dinner' as we watched the game," he wrote. "I made us some fried eggs, but one egg was suspicious… small, spoiled, and stunted…," he added.
He illustrated his story by drawing a carton of eggs, one of them standing out as a greenish-brown among the other white eggs. "I ate this little one and paid the price," he wrote, drawing an arrow to the spoiled egg.
The next page details his "horrible night," and includes an illustration of him bent over the toilet, throwing up. Drawn in his stomach is an egg with an angry face. "The culprit," he writes, with an arrow pointing to it.
"I knew I was in trouble after eating the bad egg… a night I won't forget!" he wrote. "Plus I had tremendous pain in my calves + feet from cramps." Below that, he included a "Timeline of Disaster," which contained eating the egg, having stomach pain then nausea, "violent vomiting" that occurred seven times, feeling weak and dizzy, sleeping, and drinking Gatorade.
His final recount of the events was his recovery process. "The rest of the day, I stayed in bed or slept in my chair," he wrote, illustrating his wife, who took the day off to tend to him, offering him some medicine. The drawing also showed his dog, Hobbes, who "stayed close" sitting by the chair.
People replied to the thread with absolute astonishment. "Omg he should make comics or kids books omg his journaling style is so cool ," one person commented. Another person complimented his art saying, "I love his comic style journaling. Reminds me of diary of a wimpy kid."
