Traveler Refuses To Swap Seats So Mom And Toddler Can Sit Together On Long-Haul Flight

A Reddit post of a traveler refusing to swap seats so a mother could sit next to her toddler on a plane has resurfaced. The traveler went on a rant, which has since been deleted, questioning how the woman even had the audacity to ask to switch seats.

The infuriated passenger was sitting in a window seat on a flight to Japan, with the toddler in the middle seat. The mother, who was sitting in the middle seat in the row behind, asked if she could trade seats in order to be next to her toddler. The passenger refused: "Not my problem they didn’t book together."

"She asked me – and just me – to switch with her so she could have my window seat (next to her daughter) and I’d take her middle seat a row back." The passenger went on to claim that there were others from the mom's tour group, as well as the tour operator, who she could have asked to trade seats with instead.

While some commenters agreed with the passenger, others were shocked by the idea of someone not allowing a mother to sit next to her child.

"As a parent of a toddler, I’m surprised that you preferred to sit next to someone else’s unaccompanied toddler, vs just moving," one comment read. "Idk what the answer is here but being infuriated about a mom trying to watch their own kid is dumb."
