Get ready to say "awww" because what you are about to see is both absolutely adorable and completely amazing.
The United States Fish & Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission installed a live-streaming, high-definition, infrared, webcam on a beach in the Florida Keys to record the hatching of approximately 100 baby loggerhead sea turtles. That's right, 100 baby sea turtles hatching, on camera!!
The "turtle cam" allowed viewers to go on turtle watch throughout the week and then on July 25, just before 9 p.m., magic happened. All of a sudden, 100 3-inch babies started to climb out of the hole and headed for the Atlantic Ocean.
Sea turtles generally lay their eggs anywhere between mid-April and October annually. A typical female lays about 100 eggs and covers them with sand before she returns back to the ocean. The eggs will incubate under the sand for about two months until the turtles hatch and return to the sea.
