It felt like just an ordinary pep rally for this football team, but there was something else going on. They were getting ready to play in their first playoff game of the season, and for one player, there would be an extra fan in his cheering section — just in time for the game.
This player hadn’t seen his brother for quite some time, since he is serving our country in the Army and is stationed at Fort Hood, TX. But lucky for him, that was all about to change.
His high school principal gets on the microphone at the pep rally, making the usual announcements about what a special night it was going to be and how excited everyone is. Then, she changes her tone.
“Carlton Prep is like family, we all look out for each other and do things together,” she says over a booming mic. “And today we have an alumni here with us and we are so proud of him.”
At this point, his brother isn't expecting anything. But when the principal says his brother’s name, he is completely shocked, and even more so when people stepped aside to let his brother walk onto the the basketball court.
He immediately runs down the bleachers and gives his big brother a huge hug while the crowd around them claps and gives this soldier a standing ovation.
There is not a dry eye in the entire gym after seeing this fantastic homecoming reunion.
