U.S. Marine Saves The Day For A Youth Football Team

Tyler McHam, a manager of Lafayette Bobcat Football league in Colorado, had the scare of his life when he realized the team’s trailer with all the equipment was missing. Without it, a football season wouldn’t be possible.

“There’s no words to describe how I felt this morning,” he told Denver’s KDVR. “It was a mess of emotions.”

Similarly to the time social media saved a girl's birthday party, Facebook worked wonders for the football program after it posted a plea last week.

While the Lafayette community quickly stepped in to donate money for new equipment, it would be hard to raise enough to cover the costs — an estimated $150,000.

And then Keith Carter, a U.S. Marine recruiter who had also seen the Facebook post spotted the trailer. After he noticed it was missing a license plate, he quickly called the police. Luckily, none of the equipment was stolen.

“Lafayette Bobcat Football would like to thank everyone who donated in our time of dire need,” the team wrote on Facebook on Tuesday. “As if we don't have enough to be grateful for Keith's service, LBF is also extremely grateful for saving our season. We salute you Keith and would like to honor you this season.”

The team and coach pleaded for their trailer to be returned. Without the equipment, it would be impossible for the children to play this season. Even though the Colorado community quickly began donating money, it would be hard to collect $150,000.
