There's no denying that high school can be a pretty awkward time for most people.
For many of us, it's a time of uncertainty and insecurity. It's rare to find a teenager who has it all figured out and has the confidence to stand up for themselves — as well as others.
When I was in high school, I remember people getting picked on right and left. It's been a long time since then, but the age of the internet seem to have made it much worse, seeing how cruel and brutal high-school students like the cyber bullies in this story can be.
Sadly, special needs students are often the ones who are singled out more than anyone else in a high school. Hailee Cook of Charles Page High School was fed up with her fellow classmates leaving the special needs students she is friends on the sidelines. With prom quickly approaching, Hailee, who has volunteered with the Special Olympics since the fourth grade, decided to stand up to give disabled students like these two a night they would never forget.
In the following uplifting story, we learn how Hailee rallied her community to take more than one dozen special needs students to prom, most who would not have felt confident attending on her own.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if every high-school student was as courageous and selfless as Hailee? Please SHARE this story to help inspire your friends on Facebook!
