A high schooler thought she'd be practicing shooting with some friends, but the incident turned out to be deadly after her gun jammed. Candace Chrzan, 17, was a senior at Mount Zion High School in Georgia. While the death was seemingly accidental, lives have now been changed forever as a result.
Candace was practicing her shot at a friend's house when her gun jammed. She handed it to a friend to help dislodge it. When that friend was trying to fix the issue, he ended up shooting Candace in the head by accident. This story was confirmed by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.
However, family friend Tiffany Cantrell feels like there may be more to the story. "Candace was [trained] in martial arts and Candace was also very trained in gun safety," she told 11Alive. "Her grandfather, being a very protective grandfather, has taught Candace how to take care of herself in any means necessary. So that's why some of the story of the gun jamming is really not making sense."
No matter what happened, a life was lost. The accused shooter turned himself in and seemed very distraught about what happened. Hear more about the tragedy in this video from Inside Edition.
