1. Walk In With Former Friends
A few weeks prior to the big day, reach out to a handful of the people who used to be your very best high school friends. This way you can plan to meet up there or for a drink beforehand and walk into the big event in the safety of a small group.
2. Embrace The Body You're In
You may feel the urge to drop as many pounds as you can before the reunion with some kind of fad diet or fasting.
First of all, that's not a healthy thing to do at all. You can harm your body and the pounds will come right back on afterward. Second, you shouldn't feel the pressure to look like you did when you were 17, for heaven's sake! Embrace the amazing person you've grown into.
3. Bring Someone New Along
Your date can be a friend, a husband, a boyfriend, or anyone that you know you will have fun with. Introduce this person to your classmates and have a good time. Just make sure you don't hang back and only talk to your date.
4. Be Up-Front
If you don't remember who someone is, don't act like you do as you delve into a long conversation. Ask up-front what their name is and you'll be much better off.
5. Be Your Awesome Self
Wear your own clothes, don't get a drastic new haircut just to try and impress, and don't lie about what you do in life.
6. Talk Yourself Up
Speak highly of what you do. If you love your job, no matter what it is, talk it up regardless of what others might think of it. Just because you aren't the CEO of a company doesn't mean you aren't highly successful.
7. Let Go Of High School Insecurities
Let loose on the dance floor like you never could in high school because of insecurities. Nothing shows how far you've come quite like letting go of all those petty worries.
8. Be Receptive With Those You Talk To
When you engage in others' lives, it makes them feel important. This will show how you've grown into a lovely, mature adult. Ask about others and get a worthwhile conversation going for about 10 minutes. After that, say how happy you were to catch up so both of you can move on to catching up with even more former classmates.
9. Say You'll Follow Up, But Only If You Want To
If you really did rekindle a connection during the reunion, let the person know that you wish to see them again sometime soon. If you really don't, just tell them it was so nice to catch up, and wish them happiness in the years to come.
