Back in 2015, Canuck, a hatchling crow, fell out of his nest.
Canuck was as small as a tennis ball and too young to have yet mastered flight, so falling thrust him into danger. Thankfully though, a neighborhood resident found, rescued, and rehabilitated Canuck, eventually re-releasing him back into the wild.
However, little Canuck had grown quite fond of his new home, and wasn’t really interested in leaving just yet. That is when he met Shawn Bergman — his rescuer’s dad’s tenant.
As Canuck lingered out in the yard, Bergman approached, politely introduced himself, and the two immediately hit it off.
As Bergman told LittleThings, “I was not the person that found or raised Canuck. I was the person that was simply there when he was released and for some reason he imprinted me as his best friend.”
Since their first moment as friends, these two have gone on amazing adventures together, one of which recently involved a crime scene and the local news!

When little Canuck the crow fell out of his nest as a baby bird, all hope was nearly lost.
Thankfully though, before the worst befell little Canuck, he was rescued and quickly rehabilitated by a local community member.
Canuck's savior nursed him back to health, intent on releasing him into the wild, and eventually that day came.
So, Canuck's rescuer set him free. However, little Canuck had started to really like his new surroundings, and didn't see much point in straying too far.
He decided to just hang out on his rescuer's property fence.
That's when he met Shawn Bergman.
Bergman was Canuck's rescuer's father's tenant.
He writes on his Facebook of their first encounter, "I was so intrigued by what was sitting here on the fence before me.
"I have always had a lifelong love of crows. And for me, this was a lifelong dream I've had. To meet a crow up close and personal.
"I had no idea what I was in for.
"At that point, I walked up and introduced myself, he hopped on my arm and the rest is history."
Since their first meeting, these two BFFs have been going on all sorts of amazing adventures together.
Their daily routine involves meeting one another in the morning at Tim Hortons.
Once Bergman grabbed his morning coffee, Canuck, who has been waiting patiently outside, hops onto his shoulder, and they're off!
Whether Canuck is posing for Bergman's camera or the two are just sharing a yummy meal side by side, Canuck and Bergman live every day together to the fullest.
Canuck is also friendly with the rest of the neighborhood.
Folks know it's him because he wears a cute little orange zip tie on one of his feet.
This little guy is completely adventurous.
He's always finding new ways to cause a raucous.
Recently, he even made the local news, because he picked up a knife from a crime scene.
Police had gotten into an altercation with a man wielding the aforementioned knife. They arrested the man, and were about to collect his knife as evidence when Canuck swooped in and stole it.
Police were eventually able to track Canuck down and get the knife back, but for a minute there, he really had them going.
Of this incident, Bergman told The Dodo, "I'm not thrilled that he tampered with a crime scene, but what [can] you do? He's a wild crow."
This clever little guy loves all sorts of different thrills.
Most of all, though, he loves his best friend, Bergman.
Bergman told LittleThings, “Canuck came into my life at a very difficult time.
"Essentially, Canuck saved my life. Depression is a scary thing, I don't know if I would have been here today if it wasn't for him.”
Fate brought Canuck and Bergman together, and now their friendship will likely last a lifetime.
