The Mother Of The Nashville School Shooter Shared Her Pro-Gun Control Views On Facebook

On Monday, March 27, 2023, a tragedy occurred that has become all too commonplace in the United States: another school shooting. This time the incident transpired at Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee. Three 9-year-old children and three adults were killed. The shooter has been identified as 28-year-old graphic designer Audrey Hale, who was also killed when officers engaged Hale at the scene.

Hale’s mother, Norma Hale, appears to be pro-gun control, as evident by her Facebook posts. She has urged others to sign petitions to create needed change. It is unclear if she could have predicted how close to home this issue would actually become.

On February 21, 2018, Norma Hale shared a petition from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. It encouraged policymakers to “Make Large-Capacity Gun Magazines Illegal.” This action could prevent incidents such as the school shooting Audrey Hale carried out from happening. Hale was armed with two AR-style rifles and a handgun.

On March 8, 2018, Norma Hale shared another petition from the Sandy Hook Promise Foundation. This petition was titled “Keep Guns Out of School.” She captioned her post, “so important!”

Audrey Hale’s motive is unknown at this time. Hale was an alumni of Covenant School. The shooting was preplanned, as police found several maps of the school where Hale lived.

Norma Hale’s Facebook profile also had several posts about how proud she was of her children. One from March 15, 2017, gushes about Audrey Hale's college achievements. Another, on October 6, 2017, says, “just grateful to be the Mom of these 2 awesome kids,” along with photos of Audrey Hale and Hale's brother.
