Oliver Hudson Says He Doesn’t Exactly Regret Cheating On His Wife Before They Got Married

Oliver Hudson says "something happened" to him after he got engaged, and he was not faithful to his wife, Erinn Bartlett, before they got married. However, he doesn't exactly regret it, because he learned from his own bad choices. The actor, 47, has been married to Erinn since 2006. They got engaged in 2004, which is when "something happened psychologically," he explained on the Sibling Revelry podcast. He normally hosts the podcast with his sister Kate Hudson, but this time, Robyn Lively cohosted.

"I spiraled, and I was unfaithful, and I was cheating, and I was crazy," Oliver said, speaking of the time when he got engaged. He also said he "never got caught."

Though Erinn didn't find out about her partner's infidelity on her own, he told her about it because he "couldn't live with myself and get married and be married and have children with this sort of weight."

"I was crying, like ‘Oh my God, who am I?’” he added.

Though he acknowledged that he has made bad choices in his life, he has also learned from them, so it's hard for him to say whether or not he regrets cheating.

"Honestly, if that didn’t happen I don’t know what kind of a person I would be. So do I regret it? I mean no, I guess not," he explained.

At the same time, he admits that he does have some regrets: "I regret causing pain. I don’t want to cause anyone any pain."

During the time that Oliver cheated, he was "going through whatever [he] was going through," and he was able to "get through it" with the help of therapy, Erinn, and his mom.

His mom, Goldie Hawn, also helped them work through the issue.

"My mother played a big part in it as well," he explained. "Where, it’s about looking at the entirety and the totality of the relationship, not just the action."

"Even though it might seem extreme, let’s dig in a little bit into why and looking at the whole person rather than this point of affliction," he continued. "Because I’m a good man, there’s no doubt. I’m not malicious and all that."

Oliver said he has "made some horrible, horrible choices in [his] life just generally" but those choices have also made him who he is.

“If everything was f—ing rainbows and roses, then who are you?” he added.

Oliver and Erinn now share three kids: Wilder Brooks, 16, Bodhi Hawn, 13, and Rio Laura, 10.

On June 9, 2023, Oliver and Erinn celebrated their 17th anniversary. "17 years ago today… TODAY!!!! Happy anniversary my beautiful queen!!!!!" Oliver wrote on Instagram at the time.
