It was one of the most important days in Sarah Ray's life. Then she got an unthinkable call: Just after she and her husband had said their vows, she received the news that her father and grandmother were in a car accident. She heard the car was wrecked but wasn't sure if anyone was hurt.
"My family comes in from out of town and this happened. I was scared on the way there," Sarah said. But she fearlessly sprung into action. She and her husband are both paramedics.
The crash was a couple of miles from the church. Sarah picked up the train of her beautiful gown and got down to business.
“Anybody in the EMS field would’ve done the same thing,” She said humbly. “ I don’t know if what I did was special but I was in a wedding dress.”
Sometimes, in the midst of an emergency, our instincts take priority, like when Pamela Rauseo jumped out of her car to give her nephew CPR.
Sarah's mother, Marcy Martin snapped the photograph of her arriving with first responders.
"I love this photo because it shows her character and accentuates her beauty," Martin says. Beauty, brains, and strength — that is one lucky groom!
The car was totaled, but fortunately no one was seriously injured. Her grandmother was taken to the hospital for evaluation but things are looking good.
"I was just making sure my family was okay … I just happened to be in a wedding dress."
