Terminally Ill Woman Refuses Treatment & Teaches Doctor A Lesson

Dr. Marco Deplano graduated in 2010 from Italy's University of Cagliari and has worked as a urologist on the Italian island of Sardinia ever since.

In 2016, he was working a regular shift at the hospital in the urology ward when he received a call from another department. It turned out that he needed to do a consult for a patient who was in kidney failure due to her terminal cancer.

Dr. Deplano later went to his Facebook page to divulge his experience with this particular patient.

He explained that the older female patient was experiencing a difficult time expelling urine due to her underlying medical condition and he told her that he would install a small tube, known as a nephrostomy tube, to help.

The doctor went on to detail how his patient then asked him if she would have to have another bag to dispose of other bodily waste, and he confirmed that she would. At that point, Dr. Deplano was met with a lingering silence that made him unsure of what she was going to say next.

After the pause, the patient then asked the doctor for his name and then went on to say something completely unexpected.

“Do you know I’m already dead? I died 15 years ago, you see,” the elderly patient boldly stated to the urologist.

Dr. Deplano’s patient went on to reveal that it was 15 years ago when her son died and she felt as though a part of her died along with him. And it was 10 years ago when she was diagnosed with her terminal illness.
