Princess Diana Once Sent A Very Dirty Birthday Card To Her Accountant

Princess Diana once sent a dirty birthday card to her accountant, proving that she is still one of the all-time coolest royal family members ever.

The Princess of Wales was famous for her ability to relate to her fans. They didn't call her "the People's Princess" for no reason. But apparently, Diana also had a rather dirty sense of humor.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the princess once sent a birthday card to her accountant, Anthony Burrows, with a joke inside. The card is now up for auction on Julien's Auctions as part of its Icons & Idols: Hollywood sale.

On the cover of the card, there's a drawing of a girl fast asleep. The text reads, "A little prick in the hand sent Sleeping Beauty to sleep." The inside cover continues, "Only the big ones are worth staying awake for!"

"The client selling it is a collector who got it from the original person that Princess Diana sent it to," a spokesperson for Julien's Auctions told HuffPost. The auction site estimates that the joke card will sell for between $800 and $1,200.

Just in case that went over your head, that right there is a sex joke. Yep, that's right: Princess Diana was into sex jokes! Surely there's something in royal etiquette against this, but who cares? Diana sure didn't.

Diana may have been the Princess of Wales, but she wasn't exactly known for being a strict rule-follower.

Diana got her fair share of criticism for her behavior. But ultimately, her ability to relate to people worldwide earned her the nickname "the People's Princess."

I mean, can you imagine Kate Middleton sending such a card to one of her staff members? The Duchess of Cambridge?

Or how about Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex?

Meghan does get a fair amount of criticism for flouting the royal rules, but her worst offenses are showing too much leg (very Diana-esque) and holding Prince Harry's hand a lot.

Meghan and Kate are great, truly, but…
