An inkblot test, otherwise known as a Rorschach test, is a psychological test in which subjects' perceptions of inkblots are used to examine a person's personality characteristics.
Most are familiar with this popular personality test because it’s often featured prominently in pop culture. Despite most of us being familiar with the test, how many of us have actually taken it?
Well, here at LittleThings, we've gained access to three of these inkblots and have made their psychological analysis available to you!
The Redstone Inkblot Test by Will Hobson is a kit of 12 cards that offers a modern twist on the traditional personality test. Each card has multiple interpretations and can be a fascinating jumping-off point for self-discovery, revealing inner secrets about yourself you never knew existed.
Curious to know if have unearthed talents? If you’re crazy or not? If you’re capable of greatness? This test will let you know! I took it and I was blown away by the results.

So which did you see?

If you see…
An anatomical image or X-ray of a chest showing red heart, lungs, and blood:
Meaning: Things are welling up inside you that you want to express but, all things considered, you’d prefer to suffer in silence and not rock the boat. You find it hard to say “no” in general. It’s always easier to say “yes,” as the German artist Thomas Schutte has pointed out, “because you don’t have to explain a ‘yes.’”
Something with long ears or a bat, rabbit, moth, butterfly, or jackal-headed god like Anubis:
Meaning:You are very emotional, feel things very deeply, and have an acute sense of responsibility and concern for others. It is one of the reasons you are greatly loved; it is also one of the reasons you don’t ask for what you need more. The consequences can often be painful — you can mess up badly because you’ve said, “Oh, I’ll be fine” — and you kick yourself for saying it every time, because it’s not true.
Stingray or skate:
Meaning: You tend to put yourself second, and are familiar though not necessarily comfortable, with the sensation of being elbowed aside by more powerful characters. A consequence is that you can sometimes be apologetic to a fault. Like a remorseful Julius Caesar, there are periods of your life that you could sum up with the motto, “Veni, vidi, satisfeci” (“I came, I saw, I said I was sorry”).
An eccentric Professor Brainstorm-type character, with fringes or white hair, a bun of some sort, and a big nose:
Meaning: You are benevolent, a very good friend, and thinker. Though you can be modest and keep your good qualities and abilities secret from other people, chutzpah suits you. Jokes like entertainer Ronnie Scott’s, “You know, I’ve only been wrong once, and that was when I thought I was wrong, and found out I wasn’t” fits you like a glove.
Let's move on to the second image. What do you see?

The most common responses are:
A mask, either tribal or wrestling.
A jolly animal of some sort: Tigger from Winnie the Pooh or a silly but happy sheep with a strange smile and floppy ears.
Musicians playing jazz on Halloween or jamming at an underground rock club.
A pair of parrots looking away from one another.
A pair of red poodles facing one another.
A pair of faces sticking out black tongues or emitting black bile, looking away from one another.

So which did you see?

If you see…
A mask, either tribal or wrestling:
Meaning: You have lots to offer but tend to be highly self-critical and undermine yourself. You feel pulled in different directions, a state of mind you’re reluctant to share with other people, but your vagueness doesn’t strike you as that wonderful either. You also feel how precious time is and how important it is to exercise your will at every opportunity, if only you didn’t feel so stuck.
A jolly animal of some sort: Tigger from Winnie the Pooh or a silly but happy sheep with a strange smile and floppy ears:
Meaning: You can be vivacious and fun, but like the froth on a cup of coffee, this can evaporate. Graham Greene, a British novelist, had a theory that some people had a “loyalty to unhappiness,” and a sense that that is where we really belong. You can relate deeply to that sentiment.
Musicians playing jazz on Halloween or jamming at an underground rock club:
Meaning: If someone hums the tune, you’ll play it. You are a chameleon and have an uncanny ability to be different people at different times. This also makes you an excellent mimic and accounts for your sense of humor. Yet, because you have a natural ability to wear different masks you assume others do the same, and because of this, you never think anyone is ever being their true self.
A pair of parrots looking away from one another:
Meaning: You are extremely talented in a variety of ways, which could be overwhelming, but you’re disciplined and try as much as possible to follow Crash and Empire of the Sun’s author J.G. Ballard’s dictum, “My advice to anyone in any field is to be faithful to your obsessions. Identify them and be faithful to them, let them guide you like a sleepwalker.”
A pair of red poodles facing one another:
Meaning: A poodle is perfectly aware of who they are, but have no idea how different they look from other dogs. The opposite goes for you. You are keenly aware of how the world sees you, but you are confused who you truly are. If you could access your feelings more, the question of who you are might not haunt you so much.
A pair of faces sticking out black tongues or emitting black bile, looking away from one another:
Meaning: It is a truth of life, as philosopher Isaiah Berlin wrote that, “We are doomed to choose, and every choice may entail an irreparable loss.” You know that choosing is the only way to build anything substantial, but you still find that loss virtually unbearable.
Finally, what do you see in this third image?

The most common responses are:
A powerful figure with big thighs in possibly thigh-high boots and a fur stole. It is generally male with female elements.
An aerial view of a polar bear’s head.
A warrior’s mask, perhaps even Darth Vader.
A dance between a variety of animals like black sheep, penguins, ostriches, monkeys, and other figures, facing one another.
A pair of faces looking in opposite directions, conjoined twins, or horned twins.
A toy with hands manipulating it from below.

Which did you see?

If you see…
A powerful figure with big thighs in possibly thigh-high boots and a fur stole. It is generally male with female elements:
Meaning: You have a great, almost effortless presence. It comes from how you live your life in general, and you’re not necessarily given to jokey bombast, but still there’s something of a Muhammad Ali about the effect you have on other people, “If you even dream of beating me you'd better wake up and apologize.” You have every right to riff like this if you wanted.
An aerial view of a polar bear’s head:
Meaning: Everything you do, you want to do properly. You are very conscientious, love challenges, and believe in taking the lead as much as possible. Every morning you wake up and, in effect, like the French social reformer Henri de Saint-Simon’s valet, tell yourself, “Levez-vous, monsieur le comte, vous avez de grandes choses a faire.” (“Rise — you have great things to achieve.”)
A warrior’s mask, perhaps even Darth Vader:
A dance between a variety of animals like black sheep, penguins, ostriches, monkeys, and other figures, facing one another:
Meaning: You are not only a dedicated friend, but you also have an innate social conscience. Committees? Yes, you have sat on those, and if others have their way, you’ll sit on a lot more. Completely straightforward and reliable, your involvement in community or political life may be taxing but it is a fundamental form of self-expression for you.
A pair of faces looking in opposite directions, conjoined twins, or horned twins:
Meaning: You’re used to doing things on your own terms and your own way. Most people will accommodate you, but, as you well know, that doesn’t mean it isn’t better to be more flexible. After all, to take a scientific approach, “You can’t say A is made of B or vice versa. All mass is interaction” said the physicist Richard Feynman.
A toy with hands manipulating it from below:
Meaning: You tend to be fairly dispassionate and clear-sighted about most things. It’s not solutions that strike you as the problem but what things caused the problem. In the impatient words of the Buddhist monk Bodhidharma, “All know the way but few actually walk it.”
