Ryan Phillippe is taking a trip down memory lane. The 49-year-old actor recently shared a throwback photo of him and his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon on his Instagram story. The former couple was married from 1999 until 2006. During that time, they had a daughter in 1999 named Ava Phillippe and a son in 2003 named Deacon. "We were hot and drenched in late '90s angst," Ryan wrote under an old photo of him and the 48-year-old actress. "Such a cooler time than today," he added.
The picture appears to be from the Legally Blonde premiere in Southampton, New York, in 2001. They were both in stripes, with Reese wearing a black and white striped dress and Ryan wearing a blue and white striped sleeveless polo shirt.
In a 2017 interview, Reese reflected on her marriage to the actor. “What do you do when you get to 40, and you made a decision when you were 25 to get married and have kids? I mean, I got married when I was 23, and I had two kids by the time I was 27. So I don’t know, you know, sometimes it’s good to know yourself.”

“I would never change anything," she added. Ryan reflected in early 2024 on their co-parenting relationship. "We never spoke ill of each other," he said. "And we were always united in support of [our kids], and now they're both adults." The actor then added, "But she and I have a friendship, and we still have calls about various things in their lives, and it works out nice."
