Woman Discovers The Locket She Purchased From A Thrift Store Is Actually An Urn

Thrift stores are meccas for special items. Each piece from a thrift store has a history from its previous owners. I also find that when you shop at thrift stores you tend to find things that are a bit more special than the mass produced stuff you'd find at a department store.

One woman can check off all of the above after her visit to White River Junction Listen Thrift Store in Vermont. The woman was so taken aback by a locket she purchased she actually returned it.

The locket looked as though it were sterling silver, though the thrift store owner confirmed that it is not. Inscribed with the words "Always in my heart," the piece is quite beautiufl.

However, when the woman opened the locket what she found wasn't a photograph, it was a body — the ashes of the deceased to be exact.

In the box a note read, "In loving memory. May the solid brass urn contained in this locket hold the memories of your loved one keeping them close to your heart and bringing you comfort."

Though it is bizarre, it isn't unusual to stumble upon an urn. Recently, a group of beach-goers found a message in a bottle that contained another person's remains.

She returned the item and the thrift store is now trying to track down the owner as they believe they would want something so precious.

If you know who this may belong to please follow Listen Thrift Store's instructions:

“We are trying to locate the original owner of this locket that was accidentally donated to LISTEN. This locket contains the ashes of a loved one, and we would really like to return it to its rightful owner. If you have any information, call our central office at (603)448-4553 and ask to speak with Merilynn.”
