Two sisters waited more than six decades to meet their brother, and they finally got the chance thanks to an unlikely coincidence.
Their mother, a nurse who lived in Puerto Rico, gave up her son when he was a baby for a reason not revealed.
But she always encouraged her girls to search for Bernardo in the future. Just like the WWII siblings who reunited after 75 years, the two sisters tried to find their brother for a long time. They didn't have any luck.
That all changed when they went on a vacation cruise and struck up a conversation with two vacationers from Puerto Rico.
One of the sisters, Alice Moreno, mentioned her maiden name, which one of the strangers recognized. The woman used to work with a man who also had the last name Pujols.
"Then she says his name is Bernardo, Bernardo Pujols. And then she looks at my sister, and she says, 'Wow! You know what, he looks like you,'" Moreno recalled to ABC Action News.
This unexpected conversation led to a heartwarming meeting between the siblings at a Florida airport after 61 years.
"All the years he missed. All the years we missed with him," Moreno said.
