Roughly 38,000 American service members remain in Afghanistan, the U.S. military told CBS. Ask anyone with a deployed loved one and they'll tell you — not a day goes by that they don't pray for their loved one's return.
In September of 2014, the Westlake High marching band welcomed home Ethan, a soldier from their own community. He also happens to be the father of one of the boys in the marching band.
So, you can imagine the crowd's surprise when who else but Ethan pops out of the set during halftime, as the band plays "As The Army Goes Rolling Along." You can see him look around the field and proudly put on his military beret as everyone cheers for Ethan, realizing the big surprise. As soon as he jumps onto the field, he's greeted by his ecstatic nieces, nephews, and his son, Isaac. By the end of the video, it was hard to hold back the tears while children rush onto the field to greet and hug their hometown hero.
