Micah Chandler is a consummate musician and frequent customer at the Doo Wop Shop in Louisville, KY. His instrument of choice is the violin, and through the power of music, he’s found strength and even forged countless friendships. But one day, his violin was stolen — and the music abruptly stopped.
That is, until a very kind soul at a local shop decided something needed to be done about the injustice. So they surprised Chandler with a brand-new violin just so that he could keep playing.
On the Doo Wop Shop Facebook page, the owner discusses the reasoning behind their act of kindness: “It was simply the right thing to do. He's been a great customer of ours for many years; we don't understand why anyone would steal from such a kind and friendly face in our community.”
Music can be both a freeing and healing tool for many, many people from all walks of life. Olivia, who was diagnosed with liver cancer, kept dancing despite everything — and even got a move named after her! A man working at a medical center in Boston knew about the power of music, too, so he sang to many terminally ill patients there in order to brighten their spirits.
With a new violin in hand, Chandler says that he thanks God for everyone's support, and that he "wouldn't be here" without them — or the music he holds so dear.
