A Michigan teen is being called a true hero – and miracle worker – after saving his Grandfather from a certain death during a freak accident.
At the request of his Grandmother, 15-year-old Austin Smith went to her garage to help his Grandpa, "Papa" Ernie Monhollen, who was fixing the breaks on his old car. While Austin was inside the sedan, it shifted out of nowhere and collapsed on top of Ernie, pinning him to the ground.
Austin told WDIV he was scared and didn't know what to do, but in a burst he miraculously was able to lift the 2,000 pounds of steel off Papa Ernie, so he could crawl out. Austin says his only explanation was that he received help from above.
Ernie told local news WFTS TV, “Thank God he was here because if it was just me and his grandmother, it would have been over.” Here is a wonderful video of Ernie, Austin and their family getting some love and appreciation from The Ellen Show.
