Twins Austin and Ty Coppola of Fairport, NY were born only a few seconds apart, but for the last 18 years, the boys' lives have been drastically different. Ty was diagnosed with Down syndrome at birth, while his brother Austin was not. Although only Austin was set to graduate from Fairport High School this past spring, he refused to walk across the stage without his biggest supporter and inspiration, his twin brother.
The boys' mother said that her son Austin told her that Ty has worked harder than him and any of the other students in his school. Although they worked hard for their diplomas, Ty's challenges seemed like much more of an accomplishment, said Austin. The school allowed Ty a cap and gown and even called his name and let him walk across the stage. The moment Ty joined his brother in receiving his diploma, the crowd went wild.
