Batman and Wonder Woman Go On Vacation

Thrift store paintings are often relegated as unwanted works of art.
It may not seem like such a big deal, but someone probably put a lot of time and effort into creating what they thought was beautiful.
These works often end up in the trash, which isn't only a waste of someone's time but a waste of the raw materials to boot.
One artist, David Irvine, is reusing these tossed-away paintings as the basis for his own art.
Irvine's art is all about upcycling materials and creativity.
He never conceals the original artists' signature which is a beautiful way of sharing credit!

Irvine's creativity reminds me a lot of artist Joe Iurato, who leaves wooden characters in public places or these artists who sculpt celebrity portraits out of food.

"When we first profiled Irvine’s ‘re-directed paintings’ last July we had no idea it would become one of our most viewed articles of 2014," one TwistedSifter blogger wrote.

"These are existing, unwanted paintings (prints, lithographs or occasionally, original pieces) that he has located at thrift shops, yard sales and has even salvaged from the curb. He then will paint in his own characters, unusual imagery or pop culture icons to give a tired piece a renewed life," it says on his website.
