All I can say is "Go Mom!"
A few onlookers on safari at the Mjejane Game Reserve in South Africa got the experience of a lifetime when they saw, firsthand, a mama buffalo save her baby seconds before a lion was about to pounce!
These two species are apart of "The Big 5," an African safari hunting term referring to lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants, and buffalo.
Moral of this story: never mess with a baby when mom's around!
