Angry Grandma Posts Photo Of Teary 11-Year-Old In Dress Deemed Too ‘Distracting’ For Picture Day

It seems like every other week there's a story about a school dress code that's gone too far.

Unfortunately, girls all over the country have to be super aware of their schools' outfit rules and regulations — and if they aren't, school administrators will tell them to change, kick them out of class, or even suspend them.

The primary reason for these dress code rules is to keep kids and teens from wearing "inappropriate" outfits.

Usually it's young girls who are told their clothes are too "distracting" to the boys, which is fairly inappropriate in its own right. Little girls shouldn't have to worry about being "distracting" anyone in that way.

For most children in the US, school started about a month ago, which means many kids are having their school picture days now.

Vegas, who lives in Billings, Montana, was excited to wear a cute outfit for her school pictures, but when the 11-year-old got to school, administrators told her she had to change.

Vegas wore a simple gray dress with pink flowers, along with opaque black leggings.

She thought it was the perfect fall outfit, but people at her school disagreed.

Vegas loved her outfit, but she was brought to tears when the school dress-coded her.

The 11-year-old didn't understand why her outfit was considered "inappropriate."

When her grandmother, Sandra Lynn Beeler Darling, found out what had happened, she was outraged.

She took to Facebook to share a photo of Vegas' outfit and explain what had happened.

My beautiful granddaughter Vegas got dress coded today, her sister bought her this dress and they told her to change it because it was distracting, Lockwood school in Billings, MT.

It was picture day and she wanted to look cute, she is 11, if you or your kids think it is distracting, don’t look at her.

To call this sweet dress “distracting” is just ridiculous.

Everyone who saw Sandra's post was shocked and upset.

One person wrote: "I don't understand why this dress would be distracting. AND it's well below her finger tips. That's ridiculous. I would argue this as a parent."

Apparently, Vegas' dress broke the rules because students aren't allowed to show their shoulders.

"There's nothing wrong with that dress," wrote another of Sandra's friends. "Have they lost their minds???"
