On the wonderful show, "What Would You Do?" unsuspecting diners were put to the test when a staged situation took place at one of the nearby tables. We see a white father meeting his daughter and her black boyfriend. The conversation between the three becomes filled with tension and gets louder and louder — it's clear the father is racist, and not happy with his daughter's choice of boyfriend. At the same time, the patrons seated around them start listening and weighing in. Some of the reactions were heartwarming, while others totally disappointed me.
Even though the father, daughter and boyfriend are actors, I still must commend the man who plays the boyfriend. The way he handles some of these reactions in the face of discrimination — so kindly and calmly — proves that good prevails.
